Houses for sale in Denpasar

Denpasar is where Bali goes to work. Government offices, the main hospitals, the markets that supply the restaurants further west, and a resident population that has nothing to do with tourism. Houses sit on ordinary streets behind ordinary walls, and a great many of them are somebody’s actual home.

Who buys here

Buyers with a reason to be on the island permanently: people working in Bali, families choosing a school run over a beach walk, and buyers who have looked at the coast and decided they would rather own a house in a city than a share of a holiday economy. The stock leans toward houses and smaller units rather than the walled villa compounds of Canggu.

The trade-off

It is a city, and reads like one. Heat sits in the streets, the traffic is constant on the arterial roads, and there is no sea view to soften any of it. Drainage struggles in the wet months, so ask what a street does in February. Resale is slower than on the coast, because the pool of foreign buyers looking inland is smaller — but the airport is close, which is worth more than it sounds.
